David Fessler's Historical Maker Project

The David Fessler Historical Maker Project

In 1988, David Fessler, a former Lima resident, traveled throughout Allen county taking pictures of, and recording text from, several historical markers he found along the way. While some are recorded in the Ohio Historical Marker Data Base, several of those David found are unique, some off the beaten path and others probably never seen before. The fact that some of the structures shown in the following photos no longer exist makes David's work all the more important because the information and pictures are preserved in a book which he presented to the Allen County Museum in 1988, His work epitomizes what most historians strive for; preserving the stories of our past.

In addition to the historical marker project, David also provided 2 short movies 1) "1947 Chamber of Commerce movie" and 2) "Lost in Middle America. A link to those films is found at the end of this blog.
